The Conscription Act of 1863 exacerbated tense relationships. This act made all white men between the ages of twenty and forty-five years eligible for the draft by the Union Army. Free African American men were permitted to "volunteer" to fight in the Civil War through the provisions of the Emancipation Proclamation. However, African American men were not drafted or otherwise forced to fight. In addition, white men with money could illegally bribe doctors for medical exemptions, legally hire a substitute, or pay for a commutation of a draft. The less affluent could not afford to pay for deferments. The inequities in draft eligibility between African Americans, monied whites, and working-class whites, of whom many were Irish, increased racial tensions.

Several cities suffered draft riots in which enrollment officers and free African Americans were targeted for violence. The largest such incident began on June 11, 1863, in New York City when more than 100 people were murdered by an angry mob. Thepotemich [5.8K]

His mother will be 40 in 8 years. So, she is 32 now.

1/8 of his mother's age is 4, so, currently Jaden is 4 years old.

The difference are 28 years.

If he is currently 4 in 17 years he will be 21 years old and his mother will be 49,

21 is 3/7 of 49.

Therefore, the correct answer is, in 17 years.

Why was the 13 amendment proposed
Over [174]

It was to try and rebuild Georgia after the civil war.  Lincoln recognized that the Emancipation Proclamation had to be followed by a constitutional amendment to guarantee the abolishment of slavery. The 13th amendment was passed at the end of the Civil War before the Southern states had been restored to the Union and should have easily passed the Congress.
