Why were written laws needed as early societies became larger and more complex?
Arte-miy333 [17]

Answer:

To establish and maintain a sense of uniform order amongst the people

Explanation:

So, as societies grew in both population and in land occupation, it became harder to regulate the civil obligations of being a "good citizen." The earliest written "code of law" is Code of Hammurabi, which established the "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" as a law to follow for a peaceful society. The use of an established set of law's helped to create a universal understanding of what was expected to be followed by all men throughout a large area ruled by one "king" which also helped to unify those city-states under one identity. His codes also laid out the punishment for breaking said law so there would be no confusion or room of interpretation on consequences of actions.

By the 1850s the constitution originally framed as an instrument of the national unity, had become a source of sectional discord
musickatia [10]
<span>This is of course a somewhat subjective question, but most would agree that this is true, since the failure of the Founding Fathers to address the issue of slavery in the Constitution meant that no amount of "compromises" could work to fix the issue of incorporating slavery into new states, which ultimately led to the Civil war. </span>

Archy [21]

Answer:

Democracy

Explanation:

The government of the United States can best be described as a republic, or representative democracy. A democracy is a government in which political power—influence over institutions, leaders, and policies—rests in the hands of the people. In a representative democracy, however, the citizens do not govern directly.
