The question is asking what the place that Muslims worship is called. They are called mosques. It is also telling you that mosques are a very recognizable characteristic of the Middle East, because of they are large decorated buildings. They are prevalent in the Middle East because their is a large Muslim population there. I’ve attached an image of a mosque so you can see why they are so recognizable.
