Find the distance between (2a+2, 2b) and (2b+2, 2a), given that a>b.
Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

Distance = 2\sqrt{2}a-2\sqrt{2}b

Step-by-step explanation:

We will use distance formula shown below to solve this:

Distance Formula:  \sqrt{(y_2-y_1)^2+(x_2-x_1)^2}

Where

x_1 = 2a + 2

y_1 = 2b

x_2 = 2b+2

y_2 = 2a

Substituting, we solve for the expression for distance:

D=\sqrt{(y_2-y_1)^2+(x_2-x_1)^2}\\D=\sqrt{(2a-2b)^2+((2b+2)-(2a+2))^2}\\D=\sqrt{(2a-2b)^2+(2b+2-2a-2)^2}\\D=\sqrt{(2a-2b)^2+(2b-2a)^2}\\D=\sqrt{4a^2 -8ab+4b^2+4b^2-8ab+4a^2}\\D=\sqrt{8a^2-16ab+8b^2}\\D=\sqrt{(2\sqrt{2}a-2\sqrt{2}b)^2}\\D=2\sqrt{2}a-2\sqrt{2}b

This is the expression in terms of a, and b, given a > b

The correct answer is y= 0.513(1.833)^x

Explain

We will use the equation on this form

Y=ab^x

Let’s us plug in the coordinates of first point

(X, y) , ( 9, 120)

We will have

Y=ab^x

120= ab^9

Our equation for a will be

Ab^9 = 120

ab ^9 / b^9 = 120/ b^9

a = 120/ b^9

So will have

Y= 120/ b^9 • b^x

Then we will plug in coordinates for the second point

( x,y) = ( 10, 220)

We will have

Y= 120/b^9 • b^x

220 = 120/b^9 • b^10-9

220= 120b

Divide both side by 120

B= 11/6

B= 1.833333 = 1.833

Let’s plug in the value b=11/6 to our equation for a

A= 120/b^9

A= 120/ 11/6^9

A= 120/11^9/6^9

A=120 • 6^9 / 11^9

= 0.51285 which equal to 0.513

So therefore the answer is

Y= 0.513(1.833)^x

I hope this help you

Use a product of two binomials to find a polynomial that represents the area of Roberto's plot.
Helga [31]

Answer:

First, we know that the area of a rectangle of width W and length L is:

A = W*L

In the case of Roberto's plan, we can see that the length of the whole rectangle is:

L = 1.5ft + x + 1.5ft = 3 ft + x

And the width is:

W = 3ft + x + 3ft = 6ft + x

Then the area of the whole thing is:

A = (3ft + x)*(6ft + x)

This is what we wanted, a product of two polynomials that represents the area of Roberto's plot.

Now if we subtract the white square (is a square of sidelength x, then its area is A = x*x) we will get the area of the border;

The total area of Roberto's borders is:

Area of the border =  (3ft + x)*(6ft + x) - x*x

                               =   3ft*6ft + 3ft*x + x*6ft + x^2 - x^2

                               = x*9ft + 18ft^2

Brianna ran 6 laps around a circular track with the diameter of 120 feet how far did she run
Flura [38]

Answer:

2261.94671

Step-by-step explanation:

You must first find the circumference of the track. Using 2(pi)r.

Where pi=3.14... and r=radius

you can find the radius by dividing the diameter by 2, 120/2=60

Afterwards you input 60 into the equation. 60*(pi)*2= 376.99111843077515

Using that number you multiply it by 6 because she ran the circumference 6 times. 6*376.99111843077515 = 2261.94671

NOTE: The question may require you to simplify at certain times so answers may vary slightly. EX: pi = 3.14, Circumference = 377
