Incomplete question. The Options read;

a) Is about one-hundred-million years old.

b) Is 4.6 billion years old.

c) Has been here forever.

d) Is less than about one-hundred-million years old.

e) Is more than about one-hundred-million years old.

Answer:

e) Is more than about one-hundred-million years old.

Explanation:

Remember, we are talking about the information available some two to three hundred years ago when there was no modern geological equipment for radioactive elements tracing.

Hence, using uniformitarian calculations from the thickness of known sedimentary rocks, the geologists concluded that the Earth must be more than about one-hundred-million years old. However, modern researchers today have concluded the Earth to be not millions but billions of years old.

What is archived through the separation of crude oil
Maurinko [17]
I think it's A but here's an explanation anyway: as you heat the crude oil, the different hydrocarbons, having different boiling points, boil and evaporate up the column. Those with lower boiling points, shorter in chain length, will condense nearer the top of the fractional distillation column. Those that are more viscous, larger in chain size, will have high boiling points, so will evaporate last and condense lower down in the column. Therefore, you achieve all the different oils / materials (oil, petrol, gasoline, tar etc etc). I hope this helps. If not, then a good website to use is 'BBC bitesize, fractional distillation'.
