When studying the ocean floor, what three zones do oceanographers divide the ocean floor into?

Answer: There are five ocean layers usually called zones. The name of the ocean zones is defined from the ocean surface. The first zone is the epipelagic zone, the second is the mesopelagic zone, the third is the bathypelagic zone, the fourth is the abyssopelagic zone and the last one is the hadalpelagic zone. The water depth also gets influence by pressure. The deeper you swim into the ocean, the greater water pressure pushes down on you. Therefore, we should discuss one by one the ocean layers for a better understanding of ocean nature.

Explanation: Oceanographers divide the ocean into layers like a cake. It has significant meaning because the ocean has different water densities. It means that water weight per unit volume has a difference of spaces. It's between water molecules and the water density is different from one layer to another in the ocean. Then, It increases along with the increasing depth of the ocean. The density of ocean water gets influence by its temperature. The relationship between density and temperature is relatively inverse. Then, also occurs the inverse. The water density has its maximum, vat the temperature of 4 degrees Celsius for pure water.

. Define each of these terms as they relate to the Age of Exploration and Trade. A. conquistadors B. circumnavigate C. plantatio
Colt1911 [192]

Hey there! I'm happy to help you out!

A: CONQUISTADORS

A conquistador was basically an explorer and conqueror, and most of them were usually from Spain. They would sail to the Americas and conquer places that had many native groups such as the Aztecs and Incas. Some examples of conquistadors include Pizarro and Cortes.

B: CIRCUMNAVIGATE

The prefix circum- means around. So, the word circumnavigate literally means to navigate around something, which, in the context of exploration means to travel all the way around the earth. This is what Magellan's expedition is famous for.

C: PLANTATION

A plantation is basically a piece of land where people that are there (usually slaves) help to cultivate many crops such as sugar, tobacco, cotton, coffee, etc. This was most likely very prominent during the triangular trade.

D: CASH CROPS

A cash crop is really self explanatory; it is a crop that people grow to make money off of because it's valuable! They don't keep the crop for themselves; they simply grow it so they can make a buck! Some examples of cash crops included tobacco, sugars, spices, and more.

E: MERCANTILISM

Mercantilism was a concept based on increasing the exports of a country, or, in other words, selling tons of stuff. This is where things like cash crops and plantations came in handy because the more resources people could produce and sell, the better! This would lead to a higher gross domestic product and more wealth for a country, so this was a system that was heavily used during the Age of Exploration!

F: COMMERCE

Commerce is basically trade but on a global scale. It has to do with buying and selling goods and services, and with a lot of new land and resources being discovered, commerce was most likely very prominent during this time.

G: ENTREPRENEUR

An entrepreneur is someone who sets up a business. During the Age of Exploration, there were a lot of new things being discovered, so many people definitely were entrepreneurs and set up businesses involving exploration and the things found on them.

H: COTTAGE INDUSTRY

A cottage industry was basically a company that didn't have its own separate building so all of its operations were done in someone's house. Teaching piano lessons to neighborhood students in your living room is a cottage industry. If women quilted blankets at home for their manufacturing business, that would also be a cottage industry. In new lands that were discovered, it would have been pretty inconvenient to build a giant plant right away, so people would usually carry out business in their own homes.

I hope that this helps! Have a wonderful day!  :D

Differentiate among the three particles of an atom in terms of their location, charge, and mass.
devlian [24]
The three main particles of an atom are: electron, proton, and neutron.

This table shows the differences on the three properties: location, charge, and mass, for the three particles:

particle         location                                   charge (C)           mass (g)

electron        space around the nucleus     - 1.6 * 10^ -19       9.11 * 10^ -28

proton           nucleus                                 + 1.6 * 10^ -19      1.673 * 10 ^ - 24

neutron         nucleus                                  0                           1.675 * 10 ^ 24

It is important to drive some conclusions that permit you to have a better picture ot these particles and their differences:

1) electrons are in the space around the nucleus in regions called orbitals. Those are not orbits, because the electrons are not orbiting the nucleous.

2)  Both protons and neutrons are inside the nucleus of the atom.

3) Electrons and protons have opposite charges of the same magnitude.  The number of protons and electrons in an atom are equal, that is why they are neutral. The neutrons, which are inside the nucleus, with the protons, does not have charge.

4) The mass of the protons and the neutrons are almost equal. The difference does not count for the usual calculations.

5) The mass of one electron is 1 / 1840 times the mass of one proton. A very low quantity.

6) Electron is a fundamental particle (it is not formed by other particles).

7) Protons and neutrons are not fundamental particles. They are formed by quarks.

What is the classification of igneous rocks based on?.
Salsk061 [2.6K]

Answer:

Igneous rocks can be divided into four categories based on their chemical composition: felsic, intermediate, mafic, and ultramafic. The diagram of Bowen's reaction series (Figure 7.6) shows that differences in chemical composition correspond to differences in the types of minerals within an igneous rock.
