Answer: How to solve equations

Step-by-step explanation:

You have to use Pemdas the order of operations to solve these types of equations.

Parenthesis,Exponents,multiplication,Division,Addition,subtraction.

Multiplication and division fit in a group left to right.

Addition and subtraction come last but depends on which comes first left to right.

Here you first have to use the distributive property.

3(y+5)=39 multiply 3 times y that gives you 3y. Then multiply 3 times 5 that gives you 15 . So, now you have simplified the left side of the equal sign so you have 3y+15=39 now subtract 15 from both sides and you get 3y=24 then you divide both sides by 3 to get y=8. What I just went over you do again and again to solve all these types of equations. Your trying to solve for the variable so you try to get y or m or n or any variable by itself.

What should larmont do to write a correct point slope equation for this line? <br> (-8,5) and (-5,7)
Ronch [10]

ANSWER

Therefore the correct answer is B

<u>EXPLANATION</u>

The equation in the point slope form of a straight line is given by the formula;

y-y_1=m(x-x_1), where m is the slope and the point (x_1,y_1) is any point on the line.

Since two points on the line are given, Lamont must find the slope using the points (-8,5) and (-5,7) as follows;

m=\frac{7-5}{-5--8} =\frac{7-5}{-5+8} =\frac{2}{3}.

He can now choose one of the points as (x_1,y_1).

If he uses  (-8,5), the he obtains,

y-5=\frac{2}{3}(x--8)

Which gives y-5=\frac{2}{3}(x+8) as the equation of the line.

Therefore the correct answer is B

Write the trigonometric expression in terms of sine and cosine, and then simplify. cot()/sin()-csc()
OLEGan [10]

Answer:

First, we know that:

cot(x) = cos(x)/sin(x)

csc(x) = 1/sin(x)

I can't know for sure what is the exact equation, so I will assume two cases.

The first case is if the equation is:

\frac{cot(x)}{sin(x)} - csc(x)

if we replace cot(x) and csc(x) we get:

\frac{cot(x)}{sin(x)} - csc(x) = \frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)} \frac{1}{sin(x)}  - \frac{1}{sin(x)}

Now let's we can rewrite this as:

\frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)} \frac{1}{sin(x)}  - \frac{1}{sin(x)} =\frac{cos(x)}{sin^2(x)} - \frac{1}{sin(x)}

\frac{cos(x)}{sin^2(x)}  - \frac{sin(x)}{sin^2(x)} = \frac{cos(x) - sin(x)}{sin^2(x)}

We can't simplify it more.

Second case:

If the initial equation was

\frac{cot(x)}{sin(x) - csc(x)}

Then if we replace cot(x) and csc(x)

\frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)}*\frac{1}{sin(x) - 1/sin(x)} = \frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)}*\frac{1}{sin^2(x)/sin(x) - 1/sin(x)}

This is equal to:

\frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)}*\frac{sin(x)}{sin^2(x) - 1}

And we know that:

sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1

Then:

sin^2(x) - 1 = -cos^2(x)

So we can replace that in our equation:

\frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)}*\frac{sin(x)}{sin^2(x) - 1} = \frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)}*\frac{sin(x)}{-cos^2(x)} = -\frac{cos(x)}{cos^2(x)}*\frac{sin(x)}{sin(x)}  = - \frac{1}{cos(x)}
