How does identifying the purpose and audience of an ad help you understand its meaning
larisa86 [58]
By identifying the purpose of an ad, you are able to see what it is actually about. If you didn't know the reason behind the purpose, you might be confused as to why is this ad even an ad overall. Whenever you find out the suitable audience the ad is directed to, you are able to see if it's suitable for you. For example, if there was an ad featuring a men spray a female would most likely not buy it but a man would. This is the same for the other gender. Of course if some females like men spray, they would buy it. However, you can clearly see that, that ad is forwarded towards men.

What does ARTHUR M HIND mean by this quote, in comparison with painting and sculpture engraving is cosmopolitan art......
vredina [299]

Arthur M Hind believed that engraving was a more sophisticated technique than painting and sculpture

Arthur Mayger Hind (1880-1957) was a prominent British writer who focused on art and specifically the technique of engraving.

His most outstanding works were:

  • A short History of Engraving and Etching (1908)
  • An Introduction to a History of Woodcut (1935)

In them, he describes the technique of engraving, has a compilation of old engravings, and highlights it against other arts such as painting and sculpture because he points out that this artistic technique is much more sophisticated.
