Shryia read a 480 page long book cover to cover in a single session, at a constant rate. After reading for 1.5 hours, she had 40

2 pages left to read. Let P(t) denote the number of pages to read P as a function of time t (measured in hours). Write the function's formula.

Answer: The function formula is,

P(t) = 480 - 48 t

Step-by-step explanation:

Since, initial number of pages = 480,

After 1.5 hours, the number of pages = 402,

Hence, the pages read by him in 1.5 hours = 480-402=72,

⇒ His constant speed of reading = \frac{72}{1.5} = 48,

⇒ The pages he read in t hours = 48 t

Since, The pages left to read in t hours = Initial pages - The pages he read in t hours,

⇒ P(t) = 480 - 48 t

Which is the required function.

I'll do the math for this, it may take me a few minutes so i will update this comment with an answer in just a minute. I always get anxious when nobody replies kind of quickly as i feel it is being forgotten. So just a heads up i'm working on a answer!

The low temperatures for a week in winter were -2° F, -15° F, -7° F, 1° F, -4° F, 5° F, 8° F. What was the average low
Novay_Z [31]

Answer: -2 F

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the average, or <em>mean, </em>of a data set, you must first combine all of the values in the set. Since some of these values are negative, it seems more difficult to solve. But it isn't. To find the mean of any data sets, you can find the absolute value of each numerical value. If you combine these regularly, it would be -15, but that is incorrect. The answer is -2 because some of the values may be negative, but you can find the answer easily. Just remember: To find the mean of data sets with negative values, you can find their absolute values, and solve from there. If this does not work for you, then find another solution. But the correct answer is -2 F.
