The Japanese Attacked Pearl Harbor

December 7, 1941

President Franklin Roosevelt called December 7, 1941, "a date which will live in infamy." On that day, Japanese planes attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory. The bombing killed more than 2,300 Americans. It completely destroyed the American battleship U.S.S. Arizona and capsized the U.S.S. Oklahoma. The attack sank or beached a total of twelve ships and damaged nine others. 160 aircraft were destroyed and 150 others damaged. The attack took the country by surprise, especially the ill-prepared Pearl Harbor base.

How did terraced farming help farmers produce food? Choose two answers.
ycow [4]

Answer:

The steps prevented soil from washing away and made it easier to irrigate crops.

The steps increased the amount of land that farmers could grow crops on.

Explanation:

Terrace farming primary benefit is to reduce the speed  of run off water which leads  usually lead  to erosion therefore conserving land and water.

It is method of farming carried out in mountainous region, where the sloppy nature of the mountain  and the effects of acceleration due to gravity(g),increases the velocity of rain water washing the top soil on the mountain, removing the top soil and therefore washing away the nutrients as wastes.

To reduce the rate of velocity, terraces are built on the slope of the mountain, therefore protecting the topmost soil layer from been washed away by erosion, thus the soil fertility is conserved, and crops could be grown  on the terrace. Therefore by  allowing the  use of sloppy land area of the mountain for farming ,terrace farming    increases the land that the farmers could used for crops propagation. This would have been impossible without the creation of the terraces.

In addition, since the grassed water ways are not needed  for water supply there is maximum land area available  for farming.

What details about D-Day can you discover from the June 6 entry? What information about the invasion is not included in Montz’s
Fudgin [204]
Based from the diary entry, it would seem as though the Germans were ready for the Americans to attack. They put mines and obstacles in the sea and on land to deter the approaching army. They used a German 88mm gun-- a long-range anti-air craft, anti-tank, anti-personnel gun most feared by the Allies-- to gun down American soldiers.

Despite these diffulties, the American soldiers drew inspiration and strength to continue fighting under the leadership of Gen. Theodore Roosevelt Jr., son of President Theodore Roosevelt, one of the highest-ranking officer on the beach during D-day
