ivanzaharov [21]

Answer:

In the first equation x=4 or x=-3

In the second  equation x=-4 or x=3

Explanation:

The first equation  x^2 − x − 12 can be factorized as follows:

x^2-4x+3x-12

x(x-4)+3(x-4)

x-4=0 or x+3=0

x=4 or x=-3

It is noteworthy that -x was rewritten as -4x+3x in order to solve the equation

The second equation x^2 + x − 12 can be factorized as below:

x^2+4x-3x-12

x(x+4)-3(x+4)

x+4=0 or x-3=0

x=-4 or x=3

It is noteworthy that +x was rewritten as 4x-3x in order to solve the equation

What mass of glucose (C6H12O6) should be dissolved in 12. 0 kg of water to obtain a solution with a freezing point of -5. 8 ∘C?.
bogdanovich [222]

The mass of glucose solute dissolved in the solution is 6.739 Kg.

Recall that;

ΔT = K m i

ΔT = Freezing point depression

K =Freezing point depression constant = 1.86°C/mol

m = molality of the solution

i = Van't Hoff factor = 1 (molecular solution)

We have to find the freezing point depression from;

Freezing point depression = Freezing point of pure solvent - Freezing point of solution

Freezing point of pure water = 0°C

Freezing point of solution = -5. 8 ∘C

Freezing point depression = 0°C - (-5. 8 ∘C) = 5. 8 ∘C

Now;

m = ΔT/K i

m = 5. 8 ∘C/ 1.86°C/mol × 1

m = 3.12 m

But molality = number of moles of solute/mass of solvent in Kg

Molar mass of solute = 180 g/mol

Let the mass of solute be m

3.12 = m/180/12

3.12 = m/180 × 12

m = 3.12 × 180 × 12

m = 6739 g or 6.739 Kg

Can anyone help me in this question!
Sidana [21]

Answer:

D: It explains how much ocean water levels have changed from the past to the present.

Explanation:

The passage states that "At the coldest part of the Ice age, the seas were about 410 feet(125 m) lower than the today. As carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere naturally rose, Wanless explains, glaciers melted, and the seas rose hundreds of feet." Those two sentences from the passage centrally describe information about the sea and how it has changed throughout the years.  Therefore, the answer is D: It explains how much ocean water levels have changed from the past to the present.
