Answer:

The government is doing their best to protect endangered species and one example of them is the Endangered Species Act. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was enacted by Congress in 1973. Under the ESA, the federal government has the responsibility to protect endangered species (species that are likely to become extinct throughout all or a large portion of their range), threatened species (species that are likely to become endangered in the near future), and critical habitat (areas vital to the survival of endangered or threatened species).  Once a species becomes listed in ESA's database as "threatened" or "endangered," it receives special protections by the federal government. Animals are protected from “take” and being traded or sold.

Explanation:

The primary goal of the Endangered Species Act is to make species' populations healthy and vital, so they can be delisted from the Endangered Species Act. Under the Endangered Species Act, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service oversees the listing and protection of all terrestrial animals and plants as well as freshwater fish. NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service oversees marine fish and wildlife. The two organizations actively invest time and resources to help bring endangered or threatened species back from the brink of extinction.

Name and explain two of the reasons the congressional committee identified for the recent financial crisis?
blagie [28]
The 2008 recession/financial crises one of the worst of its kind in a generation. Major economies including the United States and the UK suffered a period of recession, consistent low-growth, rising unemployment and many businesses closing down.

A 10-member committee called the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission was setup by the US government to study the causes of the recession, in the hopes that a future similar crisis could be prevented.

In 2011, the committee released their findings and pointed out the two major reasons for the crisis:

1. The basic reason for the crises as the Collapse of the housing market.

2. Which in turn was fueled by toxic mortgages, low-interest and easy credit available to everyone and minimal regulation.

The report also pointed out vast problems of corporate governance, lack of government will and unpreparedness.

Summarize Lincoln's 3 three reasons for the Ten Percent Plan.
Nataly [62]
Ten-Percent Plan, which specified that a southern state could be readmitted into the Union once 10 percent of its voters (from the voter rolls for the election of 1860) swore an Oath Of Allegiance to the Union. Voters could then elect delegates to draft revised state constitutions and establish new state governments. All southerners except for high-ranking Confederate army officers and government officials would be granted a full pardon. Lincoln guaranteed southerners that he would protect their private property, though not their slaves. Most moderate Republicans in Congress supported the president’s proposal for Reconstruction because they wanted to bring a quick end to the war.

In many ways, the Ten-Percent Plan was more of a political maneuver than a plan for Reconstruction. Lincoln wanted to end the war quickly. He feared that a protracted war would lose public support and that the North and South would never be reunited if the fighting did not stop quickly. His fears were justified: by late 1863, a large number of Democrats were clamoring for a truce and peaceful resolution. Lincoln’s Ten-Percent Plan was thus lenient—an attempt to entice the South to surrender.
