Conversation into the dramatic form
A bold statement, a question, or a famous quote are three typical hooks used for essays. A bold statement is used to shock your reader, in a sense, and make them more interested in reading to see how this statement could possibly be true. A question gets your reader to think and want to know the answer, thus being more interested in reading the essay.
