What is the effect of telling the events of this excerpt in the order in which they happen?Read the excerpt from Outcasts United

.
Jeremiah made the team. But when Beatrice Ziaty found out her son was sneaking off to play soccer with strangers after school, she became angry. "You're too small," Beatrice scolded him. "Don't go out of the house!"

Jeremiah started to cry. He begged his mother to let him play, but Beatrice wasn’t going to let anything bad happen to her son. And she certainly wasn't going to be defied—not after all she'd done to get the family here. Inside, though, Beatrice was torn. She knew an eight-year-old boy needed to run. She knew it wasn't fair to keep him confined to a small apartment all the time.

"You say you have a coach," she finally said to Jeremiah. "Why you can't bring the coach to me to see?"

"Momma," he said, "I will bring her."

Answer:

Chronological order is useful when a writer wants to help readers understand  details and connections about the story's events.

In this excerpt we can clearly see the development of Jeremiah's mother. At first, she forbids him of playing soccer but she is torned because she knows that he should be out there playing. Then she is willing to consider it and talk to his coach.

It's a lineal chronological order that allows us to understand her personal and inner conflicts.

Elanso [62]

Answer:

Proceed (forward & go = to go forward) + ed (simple past tense) = Proceeded

Explanation:

The mentioned word was created from the two Latin words mentioned above which were firstly used in the French language as the word procederer. The word procederer comes from Latin language and it is the mixture of the “CEDERE-GO” and the prefix “PRO-FORWARD”.

It was only in the Middle-Ages that the English society had started using this particular word in the form PROCEED which has several meanings in English Language today:

To proceed = to continue doing something

To proceed = to go forward with your plans or actions

You may proceed = the most common way in terms of politeness to say to someone that he or she can continue with his/her work, intentions or other actions

In your question, the mentioned word is in the simple past tense (+ed)

The principle accusers in The Crucible are young, unmarried women. List some evidence from the play to show the status of single
guapka [62]

Single women in Puritan society had a very low social status and did not have much influence in society, but they were seen as very innocent, pure and credible people, since they were not married and had not been "corrupted". This is because, single women, in Puritan society, were considered children and therefore shared the same innocence, until they entered adulthood, where they would get married and leave the status of a child and, consequently, the status of incocence. Women prostitutes were also not considered innocent and did not deserve to be heard because of their sinful nature.

In "The crucible" the girls who started the accusations, mainly Abigail, were single and that's why nobody believed they were lying. Abigail used her reputation as an "innocent" to accuse all the people she believed should get out of her way, as no one knew she was Proctor's lover, her words were easily accepted by everyone.
