You should truly apologize to him in person and if he can’t forgive you than y’all should go y’all’s separate ways and have a friend break for awhile then he’ll realize how much he needs you as a friend:) hope this helps!hope he forgives
if they are a really important person in your life, I would lie and say you didn't mean it, if they are not meaningful to you, then just leave them be.
