Answer:

Hedda actually doesn't have the power to do so, and this is because she isn't even happy in her own life she is a very unhappy and mean person. I think that she should worry about molding her own destiny before worrying about others. Throughout this story she is portrayed as a selfish type of character, she often tries to live through other people's lives instead of her own and brings problems to the people she interacts with.

<span>Hedda doesn't have such a power at all, because she is not even satisfied by her own life- if she could she would mould her destiny. Throughout the whole story this nasty character is trying to live through other people instead and that brings a lot of troubles to all the people surrounding her. <span>

Which three parts of this excerpt from Mark Twain's "The £1,000,000 Bank-Note" contain hyperbole?
PSYCHO15rus [73]

There are three hyperboles in this excerpt from "The £1,000,000 Bank-Note":

  • "They'll flock in droves". Here the word flock used as a verb means to gather together as a flock (word used to refer to a group of animals, specially birds). Therefore, the phrase is an hyperbole because it contrasts the idea of "a group of animals in a rush" to refer to "these rich Londoners" so as to cause a sense of exaggeration.
  • "I'm a made man forever". The use of the word "forever" here is used to add emphasis to the fact that the character will be a made man as long as he lives: everyone knows nothing lasts forever.
  • "In less than twenty-four hours London was abuzz!". Here the phrase "less than twenty-four hours" is employed to highlight how fast it took the rich Londoners to hear about the mine selling.

A split infinitive occurs when a word or group of words is inserted _____ the two parts of an infinitive.
Ber [7]

The correct answer is D. Between

Explanation:

An infinitive is the basic form of a verb compound by the preposition "to" and the bare verb, for example, to eat, to run, to go or to cook. In the case of a split infinitive a word or groups of words is inserted between the preposition "to" and the bare infinitive which is usually an adverb, for example, "she was advised to slowly run" in which "to run" has been separated or split by the adverb "slowly". Thus, a split occurs if one or more words are inserted between the two parts of an infinitive.
