What is the linear equation that has slope of 5 and pass through the point (-1, -3)?

What you would do is that you would use the y=mx+b linear equation
m=5
x=-1
y=-3
b=?
hence, you must solve b to have the equation

-3=(5)(-1)+b
-3=-5+b
-3+5=b
2=b
therefore the equation is
y=5x+2

for standard form you just move everything to equal 0 because there is no fraction next to the x
thus

-5x+y-2=0

130 apples at the party. There were 3 times as many yellow apples as green apples, there were twice as many red apples as yellow
kipiarov [429]

Answer: There were 78 red apples at the party.

Step-by-step explanation:

This situation can be represented by the equation

x + 3x + 2(3x) = 130    where x is the number of green apples, 3x is the number of  yellow apples and 2(3x) is the number  of red apples.

Now solve for x

x +3x +2(3x) =130

4x + 6x = 130

10x  = 130

x =  13

Now we know that x is 13 so put it into the expression for red apples and solve for the actual number of red apples.

2 * (3*13)  = ?

2 * 39 = 78

A store holiday sale has an item marked down by $10 with an additional discount of 25% off the
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer:

C : $58.36

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A store holiday sale has an item marked down by $10.

Discount on new price = 25%

Final price was $36.27.

Question asked:

what was the original ?

Solution:

Let original price = x

New price = x - 10

Original price - marked down amount - discount amount = $36.27

x - 10 -25\% of(x - 10 ) = 36.27\\

x - 10 - \frac{25}{100} (x - 10) = 36.27\\x - 10 - 0.25(x - 10) = 36.27\\x - 10 -0.25x +2.5 = 36.27\\0.75x - 7.5 = 36.27\\

Adding both side by 7.5

0.75x = 43.77\\

Dividing both side by 0.75

x = 58.36

Therefore, the original price was $58.36
