In paragraph 12, why does Liaugminas put "experts" and "news analysts" in quotation<br> marks?
Hoochie [10]

Answer:

Liaugminas puts "experts" and "news analysts" in quotation marks because she doesn’t believe that they are experts and news analysts.

Explanation:

She is ironic in this excerpt where she says:

<em>"Do you hear from the same set of “experts” again and again? I find this especially annoying; The newsmagazine I worked for is still using some of the same old liberal “news analysts” they used when I first arrived in the Midwest bureau more than two decades ago."</em>

She says about how news selects subjects and how they cover them; they are not objective, and they have lost their core values.

11-20. Read the following passage from Thomas Paine's The Crisis (1776) carefully before you choose your
Bess [88]

Answer: c. The Tory tavern keeper who makes a thoughtless statement in front of a child.

Explanation:

Thomas Paine wrote The Crisis during the American Civil War in order to inspire the colonists in their struggle against the British.

In this selection, Thomas Paine uses the anecdote of a Tory tavern keeper who said that he would rather have peace whilst he is alive as opposed to fighting the British.

Thomas Paine thought this statement thoughtless because he believed that a parent such as the tavern keeper, should hope for problems to happen in his time rather than in the time of his children.

ivanzaharov [21]

Answer:

I would honestly tell them to throw expectations out the window. I do know that it was a long time ago and it probably wasn't possible, but there's not enough time to complain. I would've told them to be more careful. not only that but to just be themselves because nobody should dictate who they are. I feel like they should just throw the parents away or put them in rice water.
