Answer:

I think that the tone of this passage is <em>regretful</em>. <u>The correct option in the last one.</u>

Explanation:

In these lines, the author tells how he/she perceives the reality of the white South Africans, he/she says that they are afraid of losing privileges, and that they "<em>would rather die</em>” than give up those privileges. These words are filled with sorrow, with sadness and without hope. The author tells this as a hard truth, but truth at last. <u>The author is not violent in this description</u>, he/she is <u>just pointing out the reality</u> and that is why I chose regretful as the correct tone for describing the excerpt. <u>The author is not directly judging the white South Africans acts, he/she is just giving information with a connotation of sorrow and regret.</u>

The answer is D: regretful

The writer describes one realistic situation in South Africa. He tells about the <em>attitude of thousands of white South Africans</em> concerning some privilages they have, <em>their unwillingness to forsake them for the good of others</em>, nor even the smallest part. <em>The writer finishes </em><em>regretting that the sad and selfish condition of these people will follow them until the day they die.</em>

The other teachers are angry if they are not being nice
lozanna [386]

Dear Ahmed,

I have a younger brother named Joseph who has a tendency to aggravate me. He will only leave you alone if you give him what he wants. I forgot to mention: you are coming to school with me. You might not learn much, though. I advise you sit with me, rather than Alex, Ben, or Maurice, because they can be just as aggravating as my younger brother! Our form teacher is Mrs. Tait. She can be very irritable if you forget your spelling book on Thursday or your sports kit on Monday and Wednesday, but she can be nice. The other teachers are also irritable if they aren't in a good mood. We will also go out after school. If you ever feel homesick, you are free to go home.

Love,

Oliver

Wuthering Heights has qualities of a gothic novel, but it also differs from examples of that genre. Based on the video you saw a
kumpel [21]

The following aspects of Wuthering Heights conform to the traits of a gothic novel:

the setting of the windswept moors, with a gloomy, dark atmosphere that pervades the manor Wuthering Heights

supernatural events, such as sightings of Catherine’s ghost by Lockwood and Heathcliff

violence depicted in Lockwood’s nightmare, in which the ghost-child’s hand is rubbed against the broken windowpane until it bleeds

a sense of mystery evoked by the gloomy, brooding landscape and Heathcliff’s strange behavior

The following elements do not fit into the gothic genre:

a realistic portrayal of the class differences in nineteenth-century England, as reflected in Hindley’s behavior toward Heathcliff

the rise of the moneyed middle class as a result of the Industrial Revolution, as portrayed by Heathcliff’s transformation to a wealthy gentleman

a somewhat happy ending, with the death of Heathcliff and the marriage of the younger Catherine and Hareton, who become the owners of Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange
