The point of view of any narrative is important for the readers to understand the feelings and actions of the characters involved. The point of view allows access to the readers on how to judge and form opinions about the story or narrative.
A memoir is a personal narrative of any historical biography that is important. Memoirs also serve as the witness's account of that particular historical event. And for the event to be relatable and genuine, the narration has to be done from a personal point of view. By narrating the events from a personal perspective, the author/ narrator gives the implication of the seriousness, sincerity, and personal touch to the whole narration.
