The Healthcare system of the United Kingdom is a form of universal care served by a single public payer. Universal means that all the citizens of the United Kingdom have guaranteed care, and single public payer means that only one public entity: the National Health Service or NHS, provides healthcare services to the people.

It is financed through taxation, and has the negative aspect of long-waiting lines for certain medical services.

The Healthcare system of the United States is much more complicated. It has public elements like Medicare and Medicaid, and private elements in the form of private insurance, which is mostly paid by employees. Private insurance is often very expensive, leading to a high degree of financial stress for many Americans.

The positive aspect of the U.S. Healthcare system is that it fosters competition and innovation, but a very negative aspect is that many people are left out of the system due to the high costs, with around 28 million people in the U.S. being uninsured.
