Answer:
in reaction to a recent escalation in protests, Amritsar was placed under martial law and handed over to British Brigadier General Reginald Dyer, who banned all meetings and gatherings in the city. On April 13, the day of the Sikh Baisakhi festival, tens of thousands of people came to Amritsar from surrounding villages to attend the city’s traditional fairs. Thousands of these people, many unaware of Dyer’s recent ban on public assemblies, convened at Jallianwala Bagh, where a nationalist demonstration was being held. Dyer’s troops surrounded the park and without warning opened fire on the crowd, killing several hundred and wounding more than a thousand. Dyer, who in a subsequent investigation admitted to ordering the attack for its “moral effect” on the people of the region, had his troops continue the murderous barrage until all their artillery was exhausted. British authorities later removed him from his post

Answer: Because they didnt want the south to have to help clear debts made by new york.

Edit: part of the song cabnit battle from hamilton:
"But Hamilton forgets
His plan would have the government assume state's debts
Now, place your bets as to who that benefits
The very seat of government where Hamilton sits
Oh, if the shoe fits, wear it
If New York's in debt, why should Virginia bear it?
Uh, our debts are paid, I'm afraid
Don't tax the South 'cause we got it made in the shade
In Virginia, we plant seeds in the ground
We create, you just wanna move our money around
This financial plan is an outrageous demand
And it's too many pages for any man to understand"
I think Christopher Columbus should be considered a hero. because he risked his life to explore the unknown for his country tho he didn't have anything to do with finding America the fact that he was actually brave enough to go out there and explore was pretty brave. when I say he dident have anything to do with America read this \/
- His intentions weren't to discover the Americas (which were already discovered by Leif Ericcson and others), or to prove the Earth was round (Which has already been proven long ago, and despite popular belief, even the Bible says the Earth is round.)
- He thought that the Carribean was the Spice Islands. He eventually realized that this was the Americas, but even on his third visit, he still thought he was somewhere close to India or China.
- He only landed in the West Indies and in South America. He never sat foot on the continent of North America, and he has absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH THE UNITED STATES!-from debate.org
