After Brazil tried to create a democracy, military leaders regained power in the 1960s and took away human rights by creating a strong military dictatorship, one of the most severe on the planet. This period became known as a civilian military dictatorship, because despite the full control of the Brazilian military, the dictatorship had the participation of business sectors in the country, mainly banks and federal institutions.
