Answer:

The correct answer is C. William Jennings Bryan was the Populist presidential candidate in 1896.

Explanation:

William Jennings Bryan was an American lawyer and politician. During his time in the House of Representatives, Bryan became the leader of a group of Democrats who wanted to introduce a silver-based dollar instead of a backing by gold. At the Democratic convention (July 9, 1896), Bryan united the agrarian and silver Democrats and captured the nomination for president. His Cross of Gold speech became one of the most famous speeches in American history.

Major elements of the Democratic Party did not support Bryan outright, and Bryan campaigned by more direct involvement with voters. Known for his oratorical abilities, Bryan delivered dozens of speeches during the campaign to advance his platform of free silver and populism. Bryan gained a large following, especially in the south and west of the United States, but many middle-income and working-class people feared the silver movement and chose the Republican presidential candidate, William McKinley, who eventually won the election.

do you think that the US would have become a world power if the articles of confederation had remained the basis of government?
devlian [24]
No, I believe that multiple weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation would have hurt America in time. One of the biggest problems was the lack of detail and specific attributes that the Constitution brings from long discussion and debates over what is best for the country. America needed to strengthen it's central government if it wanted to get anywhere, so we may not have become so powerful if we left the majority of the power in the state's hands. Another lacking component was the fact that we had no Executive branch to enforce Congress' laws and no National court to determine the meaning of the laws. Another example is the making of one currency for the entire country. These examples and more could have hurt America if they wouldn't have written the Constitution.

What was the policy of isolationism in america?

It took place in the period of the World War I, when the United States sought neutrality in international affairs. This strategy was instituted by then-President Woodrow Wilson, whose ideas were based on non-interference in war-related conflicts.

Therefore, President Wilson's isolationist policy in the period of the first world war had population support, causing him to win the second presidential term.
