Answer:

The main themes in The Awakening are freedom, social expectations, and desire. Freedom: Edna experiences a sense of freedom while on Grand Isle, brought on by both her affair with Robert and her temporary reprieve from the duties of being a homemaker.

The message Chopin tries to convey is that women should explore and discover what they need as individuals to be happy--that they do not have to follow traditional paths, such as wife and mother, to be fulfilled.

What does the introductory paragraph/page introduce? Why? The Awakening, a book that challenges all of this. Kate Chopin's novel follows Edna Pontellier's transformation from an obedient, traditional wife and mother into a self-realized, sexually liberated and independent woman.

Is wax a closed syllable word?
shutvik [7]
To figure out if a word is a closed or open syllable word, look at the vowel (a, e, i, o, u)

wax

open syllables- word ends on a vowel
closed syllables- the vowel is followed by a consonant or more

therefore, wax is a closed syllable

(another example; fro-zen; fro would be the open syllable since it ends on O (vowel); while zen - the e (VOWEL) is followed by a consonant (n)
