Changing the “m” or “b” would change the overall line on the graph. Meaning the line could be steeper or flatter. It could also change whether the line has a positive slope or negative. Likewise, when you use negative numbers for the m, the line will have a negative slope and will have a decreasing look to it. When you use negative numbers for the b, the y-intercept will be negative which will put the line further down the y-axis.

I hope this is what you were looking for! I kinda did it off the top of my head so of course feel free to change anything!!

Complete the equation of the line through (2,1)and (5,-8)
Alex73 [517]

m =  \frac{ - 8 - 1}{5 - 2}  \\   = \frac { - 9}{3}  \\  m  =  - 3 \\ y = mx + c \\ 1 =  - 3(2) + c \\ c = 7 \\ y = mx + c \\ y =  - 3x + 7

What is the answer you this question
8_murik_8 [283]
Hello!

First, you will need to subtract -2 from 4 (4-(-2)). You'll need to do this because to find the slope, you'll need to subtract y² w/ y1 or 4-(-2) and divide it by x² - x1 or -1-(-3). So once you set up the equation it'll look like this...

4-(-2)/-1-(-3)

Now after you've subtracted the numbers, your equation will look like this...

6/2

You'll then divide 6 by 2 and your slope will be 3

I hope this helps!

Factors of 63: 1, 3, 7, 9, 21, 63
Factors of 502: 1, 2, 251, 502

Therefore the simplest form of 502/63 is 502/63
