Geography

Answer:

By looking at similarities like the composition, sequences and Index Fossils if present

Explanation:

To correctly match a certain Rock layer with another the geologist use different methods to find the similarities of a rock layer in an outcrop between them. The first step is to determine the characteristics of the rock layers, and the sequence, depending on the types of rock and their shape, for example, a rock layer can be a Gneiss, Basalt, Sandstone, etc.

In case Index Fossils are found the geologist correlates them with a certain geology period, For example, a trilobite would be related to a Devonian Period.

With these data, the geologist compares the structure and similar formations characteristics found in outcrops and the possible Age of the rock layers with the Index fossils.

Earthquake waves that vibrate from side to side and up and down only through solids are known as ______.
attashe74 [19]
Earthquake waves that vibrate from side to side and up and down only through solids are known as secondary waves, or simply S-waves. As you can see in the question, they pass through solids - to be more precise, they flow through rocks and cause them to change their shape. They are quite strong, but not as strong as primary waves, as they cannot pass through liquids or gases.

How did smallpox influence the colonization of the Americas ?

HELP ME PLEASE
kupik [55]

Answer:

Smallpox has had a major impact on world history, not least because indigenous populations of regions where smallpox was non-native, such as the Americas and Australia, were rapidly decimated and weakened by smallpox. During the 18th century the disease killed an estimated 400,000 Europeans each year, including five reigning monarchs, and was responsible for a third of all blindness. After successful vaccination campaigns throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the WHO certified the global eradication of smallpox in December 1979. Smallpox is one of two infectious diseases to have been eradicated.
