A square pyramid is inscribed in a rectangular prism. A cone is inscribed in a cylinder. The pyramid and the cone have the same

volume. Part of the volume of the rectangular prism, 1 V 1 , is not taken up by the square pyramid. Part of the volume of the cylinder, 2 V 2 , is not taken up by the cone. What is the relationship of these two volumes, 1 V 1 and 2 V 2 ?

Answer:

V₂ = V₁

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the height of the rectangular prism = h

Let s represent the side length of the base of the square prism, we have;

The volume of the prism, V_{prism} = s²·h

The volume of the square pyramid, V_{pyramid} = (1/3)·s²·h

∴ V₁ = The area not taken up by the square pyramid = V_{prism} - V_{pyramid}

∴ V₁ = s²·h - (1/3)·s²·h = (2/3)·s²·h

Similarly, for the cylinder, we have;

Let h represent the height of the cylinder

Let r represent the radius of the base of the cone, we have;

Therefore;

The volume of the cylinder, V_{cylinder} = π·r²·h

The volume of the cone, V_{cone} = (1/3)·π·r²·h

∴ V₂ = π·r²·h - (1/3)·π·r²·h = (2/3)·π·r²·h

V₂ = (2/3)·π·r²·h

V_{cone} = V_{pyramid}

Therefore;

(1/3)·π·r²·h = (1/3)·s²·h

∴ π·r² = s²

Therefore, V₂ = (2/3)·π·r²·h = V₂ = (2/3)·s²·h = V₁

V₂ = V₁.

In a given population, a few individuals may, by random chance, leave behind more descendants than other individuals. Thus, the
Reika [66]

Answer: it is called genetic drift

Step-by-step explanation:

To explain this it is important to know the meanings of some concepts like allelles which is one of two or more alternative forms of a gene that arise by mutation and are found at the same place on a chromosome. So in other words the concept that the paragraph is referring is about the descendancy that can be traced by these alleles.

In other words, the paragrapgh states that some individuals when having more children leave more genetic load in subsequent generations and this subsequent load is illustratin in part what is called genetic drift which is many times a random effect on biological populations. Its effect is to remove genetic variation from a population of living organisms. In natural populations there are a number of forces acting. There are forces which add heritable variation to the population, such as mutation and recombination.

samuel needs to estimate the product of 23 * 395. explain two different methods Samuel can use to estimate.
Sonbull [250]
Samuel could round both of the individual numbers, to get s rounded answer. So, he could round 23 to 20, and 395 to 400, to get a product of 8000.
Or, he could multiply the numbers first, so 23*395 to get a product of 9085, which would then round to 9000, or depends on what place value it would want to be rounded to.
