You are studying a bacterium that utilizes a sugar called athelose. This sugar can be used as an energy source when necessary. M
stepan [7]

Answer:

The ath operon is most likely controlled by the CAP and a repressor similar to the lac operon.

Explanation:

The CAP senses the low concentration of glucose and activates the transcription of the ath operon for it to metabolize the athelose and obtain energy. When the glucose is in high concentrations, the ath repressor, which works as a  lac repressor, inhibits the transcription of the ath operon, it does this by binding to a part of the operon called operator getting in the ARN polymerase way and stoping the transcription. If there is glucose, the repressor binds to it and it is not bound to the operon allowing the transcription and metabolism of glucose.

Which reflex prevents you from falling when you suddenly lift one foot off the ground in response to pain?
Mkey [24]

Crossed-extensor reflex prevents you from falling when you suddenly lift one foot off the ground in response to pain.

  • A withdrawal reflex is the crossed extensor reflex. In the withdrawing limb, the extensors relax while the flexors contract, but in the other limb, the opposite happens.
  • This can be seen, for instance, when someone steps on a nail; the affected leg pulls away, while the other leg bears the weight of the entire body.
  • Contralateral means that the crossed extensor reflex takes place on the side of the body that is opposite from the stimulus.
  • Afferent nerve fiber branches travel from the stimulated side of the body to the opposite side of the spinal cord to cause this response.
  • They make connections with interneurons there, which then stimulate or inhibit alpha motor neurons to he muscles of the contralateral limb.

Badlands National Park has heavily eroded geologic formations called
iris [78.8K]

B. Abiotic

Explanation:

The role of flowing water in this ecosystem is abiotic.

  • Abiotic factors in an ecosystem are the non-living factors that shapes an ecosystem.
  • An ecosystem is made up of both living and non-living components.
  • The action of running water is termed erosion and it shapes the land form as seen in the badland.
  • This is an action not related to life and living organisms.
  • It is an abiotic factor.

In the ATP Cycle energy is transferred from sunlight or glucose to build _____ from ADP and _____________.
zysi [14]

Answer:

1. ATP

2. Inorganic phosphate (Pi)

Explanation:

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is the usable form of energy by the cells of living organisms. During the light reaction of photosynthesis, energy from sunlight (solar energy) is converted to ATP in order to power the Calvin cycle stage. Also during cellular respiration, energy stored in glucose molecule is transferred to ATP.

The processes by which this synthesis of ATP from ADP (Adenosine diphosphate) occurs is called oxidative phosphorylation and chemiosmosis. Energy is stored in the ATP molecule when ADP combines with inorganic phosphate (Pi).
