Lasting impact

In 1895, they published the New York Tenement House Act, which outlawed rear tenements and also was the first official document to supplement a written description of tenement housing with photographs. His book, How the Other Half Lives (1890), stimulated the first significant New York legislation to curb poor conditions in tenement housing. It was also an important predecessor to muckraking journalism, which took shape in the United States after 1900. Hope this helps!

Did americas attitude about slavery really change or did the abolitionists meraly have the upper hand to enact such changes
riadik2000 [5.3K]
It didn't. People still disliked African-Americans in the south even after the abolishing and after the reconstruction. They just found new ways to be racist and exclude them from the society through things like segregation laws or jim crow laws or the black code or anything similar that was racist.

How was Europe imperialism different in India and Africa
raketka [301]

Imperialism in India was very similar to imperialism in Africa. ... Like in Africa, the British that imperialized India were very forceful and treated the Indians like their servants. They believed they deserved to be in charge because they were more fit to lead.

Why did the us become involved in hawaii during the early and mid 1800s
Vikki [24]

A few reasons. It was great for the United States economy because of the great production of sugar and other items there. Also because it was a strategic location for war. The terrain was perfect and it being an island gave them access farther away from the motherland. You can actually still see some of the bunkers and stuff on the volcanoes that they used in the World War!
