How did brazil gain its independence

History

Brazil's independence was the historical process of separation between Brazil and Portugal that took place on September 7, 1822. Through independence, Brazil ceased to be a Portuguese colony and became an independent nation. With this event, the country organized itself as a monarchy that had d. Peter I as emperor.

The independence of Brazil has a strong connection with the transfer of the Portuguese court to the colony in 1808. The events that took place in the period between 1808 and 1822 led to the erosion of the relationship between the Brazilian elite, especially the Southeast, with the Kingdom of Portugal.

The Portuguese court decided to move to Brazil at the end of 1807 to flee Napoleonic troops that invaded Portugal in retaliation for having breached the Continental Blockade. At that time, the queen of Portugal was d. Mary and the ruling prince were d. John VI, and that was his decision.

Sensitive changes took place in Brazil during this period, which became known as the Joanino Period. These changes have taken place in the cultural, economic and even political fields. The first measure of great repercussion at the time was the opening of Brazil's ports in 1808. This was the end of the commercial monopoly that existed during the colonial period.

1. What might be the costs of having such a large national debt?
creativ13 [48]

Answer:

1. What might be the costs of having such a large national debt?

When a country has a very large debt like the U.S., people may think that the country will not be able to pay off the debt. It's the same situation as a person who has a lot of debt, even more debt in a year than income in a year: people will believe that he or she will probably not be able to pay off the debt.

When this happens, people will invest less in the economy, the debt will become more expensive because the interest rate will be higher, and this in turn could lead Congress to enact policies such as tax hikes or debt renegotiations, which are always negative for an economy.

2. Did the promise that tax cuts would result in a growing economy that would pay for any  budget shortfalls come true during the Reagan years?

Reagan's tax cuts did not lead to increases in tax revenue. On the contrary, tax revenue, as predicted by many, actually fell. This, in addition to increased military and social security spending, led to large budget deficits during the Reagan administration.
