Answer:

The correct answer is D. The Erie Canal provided a source of transportation for goods and people.

Explanation:

The Erie Canal was inaugurated on October 26, 1825 and connects Albany along the Hudson River with Buffalo, located on the Niagara River in New York State.

This connection was first proposed in 1699 but its construction began in 1817. About 584 km long, it has a total of 36 locks and a total height difference of 172 meters.

The canal allowed the boats access to the large inland lakes from New York City, thus becoming an important trade route, allowing the Big Apple to overtake the city of Philadelphia as a commercial port. It was the first transportation system between the eastern coast and the western interior of the United States that did not require portage.

Nowadays it is used to a greater extent for tourism purposes.

What will happen to freedpeople and other African Americans? Will they be citizens? Will they be permitted to vote and hold offi
zysi [14]

Answer and Explanation:

I believe you are referring to what happened to African Americans during the reconstruction of the south, when they were freed from slavery.

In that period, laws were established that prohibited African-Americans from being victims of discrimination and forced labor, although this still happened in society, especially episodes of discrimination. In addition, Africans have gained the right to vote, to be political representatives and to hold public office, as a reflection of their citizenship that was guaranteed through emancipation. Blacks could also participate in commerce, attend schools and own homes.
