The Three-fifths Compromise was a compromise reached among delegates who came from the southern and northern states during the United States Constitutional Convention which held in 1787.

They reached a compromise by agreeing that three-fifths (three out of five) of the slave population are going to be counted to determine direct taxation and representation in the house of representatives.
