Explain the roles legislative leaders fulfill as gatekeepers, coalition builders, and communicators. Rank the three roles in ter
Wittaler [7]
Abstract

Access to the Internet and participation in discourse through the medium of the Internet have become integral parts of our democratic life. Facilitation of this democratic potential critically relies on a governance structure supportive of the right to freedom of expression. In western democracies, governance is largely the preserve of the private sphere. This is because of two reasons. First, the communication technologies that enable or disable participation in discourse online are privately-owned. In order to find information, we use search engines. In order to sort through the clutter, we use portals. In order to access the Internet, we need to use Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Thus we inevitably rely on these companies to participate in discourse online and they thereby become gatekeepers to our digital democratic experience.

How did industrial, artistic, scientific, and political changes in the late 1800s contribute to a changed worldview?
BigorU [14]

During the late 1800s, industrial, artistic, scientific, and political changes contributed to a changed worldview. It was a period of great advances in scientific discovery, philosophy, religion and artistic expression.

Taking into account philosophy, new ideologies started to influence society. In 1848, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote "<em>The Communist Manifesto</em>" which focused on the history of class struggle. This manifesto claimed that the working class (the proletariat) had to struggle with the bourgeoisie so as to reorder society.

Bearing in mind artistic expressions, Realism began to emerge. This movement tried to portray everyday people and events. It tended to avoid artistic conventions as well as supernatural elements. Naturalist works of arts also influenced literature which focused on showing everyday life and activities.

One of the most influential figures in human history was Charles Darwin, whose controversial ideas based on humans as ordinary products of nature were published in <em>“On the Origin of the Species by Means of Natural Selection”</em>. His ideas about the origin of human being (“<em>The Descent of Man”</em>) became really controversial at that time.

Regarding scientific findings, the Curies discovered that the element radium was able to give off waves of radiation. In addition, Einstein published his theory of relativity.

It is important to state that there were changes in industrial production, trade, and imperialism which improved the world economy. The US became the richest nation in the world due to an important growth in industry and transport. As a result, increasing trade between nations allowed the US to gain more power.

How did we respond to the cold war and what was the 1 goal of it
DENIUS [597]
<span>During World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union fought together as allies against the Axis powers. However, the relationship between the two nations was a tense one. Americans had long been wary of Soviet communism and concerned about Russian leader Joseph Stalin’s tyrannical, blood-thirsty rule of his own country. For their part, the Soviets resented the Americans’ decades-long refusal to treat the USSR as a legitimate part of the international community as well as their delayed entry into World War II, which resulted in the deaths of tens of millions of Russians. After the war ended, these grievances ripened into an overwhelming sense of mutual distrust and enmity. Postwar Soviet expansionism in Eastern Europe fueled many Americans’ fears of a Russian plan to control the world. Meanwhile, the USSR came to resent what they perceived as American officials’ bellicose rhetoric, arms buildup and interventionist approach to international relations. In such a hostile atmosphere, no single party was entirely to blame for the Cold War; in fact, some historians believe it was inevitable.</span>
