Answer:

I think congress amended to the constitution to require that no president serve more than 2 terms as to be sure no president turned into a king or tyrannical leader. I agree with this amendment as it helps keep order and wont allow any president to overstay their welcome and gain to much power. The founding fathers were just escaping a king and they would not want a president to be like a king.

3241004551 [841]

Why does the electoral college system sill exist today?
Inga [223]

Answer:

Fundamentally important so that smaller states can have equal power in electing individuals to larger ones.

For example, without the electoral system, the states of Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska, North and South Dakota, Delaware, Rhode Island, Montana and more would be utterly eclipsed even if just half of California voted against their candidate.

What type of government did the states want once they gained independence from Britain?
Sergio039 [100]

Well at the time of the U.S. revolutionary war, there were 13 colonies, they were not referred to as states till later.  far as what type of govt was wanted, at the time they were trying to break free of a monarchy type, meaning ruled by a king.  The U.S. currently has a federal type of govt.  so its safe to say that's the type they were wanting.
