Authors write for many reasons. I think the key to Cisneros's purpose is in the narrator. In the House on Mango Street, the narrator is a young Latino girl, She describes her neighborhood and the people in it.  Most of them are down on their luck and struggling to make it in America, and most are hard-working immigrants. The main character, Esperanza, struggles with her own ideas of identity and success. She wants to have pride in her heritage, but she also wants to succeed and go beyond the limits of her neighborhood. Like every immigrant, she strives for the American dream.

In my opinion is more than a little autobiographical. when we consider the author's purpose, we should think of Esperanza's hopes and dreams and how Cisneros depicts them. I think she is reaching out to young Latino girls, to tell a good story, but she also hopes to serve as an inspiration. We all struggle, but somehow we can make it.

According to thomas jefferson what is the basis for human rights?
arsen [322]
The basis for human rights are the laws of nature and god. These human rights (to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) are inalienable and indisputable. They are of nature and god because they weren't given us by one government or another, or by some other human agreement. They naturally belong to every human being, from the moment when they were born.

Which verb agrees in number with its subject? Many if the runners _________________incredibly fast. A.are b.has c. Is d. Was
ruslelena [56]
Many of the runners ____ incredibly fast.
The subject is "many" and many is plural.
Has would be wrong because you need a linking verb (the predicate is an adjective)
"Is" would be wrong because the subject is plural and "is" corresponds to a singular subject.
"Was" is incorrect because "was" corresponds to a singular noun.
Therefore "are" would be correct because it is a linking verb that corresponds to a plural noun.
