Answer:

Run, run!   Help, help!  Fire, fire, run, run, like a tragic nursery rhyme, a dozen voices, high, low, like children dying in a forest, alone, alone.  The parlour into cellar, cellar into sub-cellar.  Fire!   The house shuddered, oak bone on bone, its bared skeleton cringing from the heat, its wire, its nerves revealed as if a surgeon had torn the skin off to let the red veins and capillaries quiver in the scalded air.

A motif is _____.
stepan [7]

Answer:

A

Explanation:

A motif is a literary term that is an idea, object, or concept that repeats itself throughout a text. A motif gives clues to theme or reinforces ideas an author wants to emphasize.

A motif generally reinforces the theme of the text.

A motif must be repeated throughout a text to be considered a motif. However, the motif may appear in various forms.

For example, “death” could be a motif in a literary work. An author would not necessarily have to use the word “death” to express the motif. He might write “funeral,” “grave,” “dead,” and so on. Furthermore, he could depict death-like images to add to the motif.

All of the language and imagery would contribute to the motif. The motif itself would contribute to the author’s theme.

After driving for sixteen hours, the couple finally arrives home. Breathing a sigh of relief
Misha Larkins [42]

We use allusions everyday, an allusion is a reference to a person, place, thing, or idea wich characterize for having ceirtain cultural significance. That means, they are known by some or great part of the society. In this way, the audience can relate to the idea and figure out the meaning of the message received.

In this case, the family is making reference to famous movie, "The Wizard of Oz". Dorothy (the main character) finally finds out how to get back home, she only needs to say and think "there's no place like home" and click her heels together three times. So the family, after a long journey finally gets the chance to return home back to normality.
