"I Am Offering This Poem" was written by Jimmy Santiago Baca. It is a type of poem that was written in "free verse" because<u><em> it doesn't have a clear rhyme scheme. </em></u>A free verse doesn't follow a particular pattern when it comes to its rhythm or meter. For example, in Baca's poem, the line in the first verse ends in <em>"you."</em> On the fourth line, he used the word<em> "you"</em> again. Yet, on the second verse, although he used<em> "you" </em>on the first line, you cannot find any word that rhymes with it among the rest of the lines. Clearly,<u> there's no pattern here.</u>
I would because I simply long for knowledge that I cannot get on earth. Like if you think about it, what the heck is really out there? Are we really the only intelligent creature out there?
One time when I was little, my mom would always warn me to not jump off the table. When I was 6 I jumped off the table, and got a mild concussion. Never did it again.
