"Between 1750 and 1760, an intricate interlocking of circumstances set coal to rule the world, not through new discoveries of co

al itself but rather through improvements in spinning and weaving machinery which made possible the massing of large numbers of spinners and weavers for large-scale production. . . . It was at the call of the master weavers and spinners of England that the steam engine was set to run the machines; then to furnish a blast so that coal might be used to cheapen the smelting of iron and steel so that more machines might be made; then to pump out the deepening mines so that more and more power to keep the machines running might be won. Steam raising was coal's first great play for power and it is the work through which it still holds its industrial supremacy. Between 1800 and 1900 coal-driven engines multiplied until . . . they were producing energy equivalent to seventy million horse-power; during the first twenty years of the twentieth century, their power-producing capacity more than doubled. So coal wrought the industrial revolution, the greatest revolution in all human history, which transformed social and economic life as radically as the geographical revolution transformed the earth's surface.”
Robert W. Bruère of the Bureau of Industrial Research in America, The Coming of Coal, 1922

Answer:

A) Between 1750 and 1760 many improvements were made. Improvements such as spinning and waving the coal on machines were examples of this.

B) Improvements such as said above helped dramatically. They helped by using their power to smelt iron and steel. Because of this, economic life improved.

C) Mining coal helped transform social and economic life. It transformed life because it pumps out deepening mines. Because of this, more and more power transfers to keep the machines running.

Answer:

A)  One enviormental influence and ultimately consequence is coal mining. Coal mining prospered off of the natural land that provided coal, but in the long run our society has seen the dretemnetal effects coal mining has on our enviormental, such as extreme loss of fossil fuels, and the harmufl fumes produced from burning the coal.

B)  During the explosion of coal, many new devices were used, as coal provided use for them. One example of this is cars and gasoline. Coal and fossil fuels could be used to produce gasoline, which powered many things, promiently cars though. Cars were a much more efficent and safe alternative to walking or horseback, the two past primary transportation methods. Cars since then have contiuned to evolve, and in the present it would be hard for our society to function without the use of cars. New inventions, such as cars, helped prove the authors claim.

C) Mining coal helped transform social and economic life. For social life, new jobs were made and allowed more people to work. Coal mining jobs were in high demand and popularity when the coal industry first started, allowing many new people to aquire jobs. The inventions that came out of this fossil fuel period, such as cars and trains, allowed for faster transportation and more social activity. The economy grew, as with a new big industry, many benefits came with it. As I stated before, the coal industry opened many new jobs, but it also inspried many new inventions. The aspiration to buy coal and fossil fuels went up tremendously, as companies everywhere were trying there luck in the coal industry. This of course, helps the economy, the coal buisnesses, and other benefitting buisnesses. Coal mining would prove to be very benefical to social and economy life for years to come.

Which of the following was a mercantilist practice that angered American colonists?
miskamm [114]

Answer:

Having to pay high duties on foreign sugar and molasses.

Explanation:

During the colonial era, especially from the mid-1700s, Britain began to carry out increasingly protectionist policies regarding its production, framed in the mercantilist concept of economic production. Mercantilism, in short, established that the wealth of a country is mediated in terms of its production of resources and its territorial extension, which allowed nations to accumulate wealth.

In this context, the British government began to prohibit its colonies from trading with other European nations (as this would benefit their economies), establishing commercial monopolies in the colonies, which implied a huge loss of rights on the part of the colonists, harming their economic and political freedoms.

poizon [28]

Answer: Agriculturalism (農家/农家; Nongjia) was an early agrarian social and political philosophy in ancient China that advocated peasant utopian communalism and egalitarianism. The philosophy is founded on the notion that human society originates with the development of agriculture, and societies are based upon "people's natural propensity to farm."
