Answer:In the novel Incidents in the life of a slave girl by Harriet Ann Jacobs, the protagonist Linda Brent is characterized by her stubbornness and bravery as she refuses to give in to the pressures placed on her by both society and her Master, Dr. Flint. Throughout the novel, she consistently persists to disregard Dr. Flint's sexual advances towards her as she even goes so far as to hide inside of her own house for seven years. Most people would give into the societal pressure of servitude, but Linda is a stubborn and strong African American slave who takes control of her own destiny.

pickupchik [31]

The humor developed the character of the narrator in the words found in these lines: "people don't demand "Peruvian ditch-diggers" and "Indian latrine cleaners." The humor is seen in the fact that she compared the attitude of humans to those of the animal, bat.

What is the humor in the text?

The humor in the text is seen in the fact that the author of the text, that is Margaret Atwood believed that he had a previous life where she appeared as a bat. She said that in her previous life, there was no such thing as Peruvian ditch diggers or even latrine cleaners.

This was funny because we cannot really be sure that the character, Atwood was certain about what happened in her former life or what was obtainable at that time. She believed that the bat was a more noble creature when compared to the humans of the present time.

How do you format an indented quote
Charra [1.4K]
For quotations that are more than four lines of prose or three lines of verse, place quotations in a free-standing block of text and omit quotation marks. Start the quotation on a new line, with the entire quote indented 1/2 inch from the left margin; maintain double-spacing. Your parenthetical citation should come after the closing punctuation mark. When quoting verse, maintain original line breaks.
