Ideas were exchanged through trade. Artists and scholars traveled between Italy and the Northern Renaissance sites. The printing press allowed easier bookmaking. Ideas spread through these books more easily.

Since entrepreneurs were usually rich businessmen, they used their money to invest in new inventions. These new inventions created break throughs in the industrial revolution, causing the entrepreneurs to get richer, and invest in other new inventions.

Most European countries were angered with the Monroe Doctrine the United States implemented especially the countries and empires part of the Holy Alliance after the Napoleonic war. But due to insufficient power and naval forces to implement the doctrine most countries disregard the threat.
