What is the difference between food chains and food webs? Food webs show the flow of energy from producers to consumers, and foo

d chains show the flow of energy from consumers to producers. Food chains show a single path of energy in an ecosystem, and food webs show overlapping pathways of energy in that ecosystem. About ten percent of the energy is passed on to the next trophic level in food webs, but in food chains, about ninety percent is passed on to the next trophic level. Heat is lost when energy is passed on to the next trophic level in food chains, but in food webs, heat is not lost when energy is passed on to the next trophic level.

Answer:

Food chains show a single path of energy in an ecosystem, and food webs show overlapping pathways of energy in that ecosystem.

Explanation:

Unlike food chains, food webs show more detailed information about the different animals in an ecosystem and show multiple energy transfers to different animals from the same sources.

By looking at these examples, you will notice a dramatic difference in detail:

Which organisms are affected most by biological magnification?
ASHA 777 [7]

Answer:

This is biomagnification, and it means that higher-level predators-fish, birds, and marine mammals-build up greater and more dangerous amounts of toxic materials than animals lower on the food chain. In this activity you will explore the biomaginification of toxic chemical, mercury, through a simple marine food chain.

Identify the eukaryotic cellular locations of the fundamental processes that are involved in the central dogma of molecular biol
Papessa [141]

Answer:

See the answer below

Explanation:

The central dogma gives a description of how genetic information travels in biological cells from DNAs to proteins. DNAs are first transcribed into messenger RNAs in a process known as transcription and the resulting mRNAs are used in the synthesis of proteins in a process known as translation.

In eukaryotic cells, transcription process happens within the confines of the nucleus because the genetic material in the form of DNAs are always located in the nucleus. Thereafter, the mRNAs generated from transcription are transported to the cytoplasm of the cell where they become translated into proteins.

Hence;

 • Transcription happens in the nucleus of the cell.
 • Translation happens in the cytoplasm of the cell.
