<span>"Many a singer far better than this absurd fop had been driven amid execration and abuse from the platform." Is the sentence that really shows mockery the best. While the author was praising him for what he was doing in the beginning it ends with such a mocking tone it changes the way you look at the rest of the reading.</span>

Why is the cyclops, as a monster, an archetypal character?
marishachu [46]
<span>By definition, an archetype is of a very typical example of a certain kind of person or thing.

In literature, a</span>n archetype may be a character, a theme, a symbol, or even a setting.

Atticus’ statement “ Jem’s definitions are very nearly accurate sometimes” (28) is meant to create what tone?
aksik [14]

Answer:

The statement on the part of Atticus that "Jem's definitions are very nearly accurate sometimes" is meant to set a playful tone because earlier Jem had said that entailment meant getting your tail stuck in a crack.

Explanation:

The word entailment is significant in this part of the story because it means that Mr. Cunningham could not just sell his property to get cash and pay his debts. He might have a farm, but he does not have to right to sell it a large part of it and dispose of the money as he wishes.  Therefore Walter and his father are poor, and kind of "stuck in a crack" when it comes to affording to take a lunch to school like Miss Caroline expects.

Read the excerpt from Julius Caesar, act 1, scene 2.
patriot [66]

The correct answer is 4: Cassius cannot believe that a weakling like Caesar has become so great. Cassius complains of being forced to bow before Caesar (he "must bend his body If Caesar carelessly but nod on him"), and the fact that Caesar has suffered from fevers and seizures makes his submission to him all the more enraging. Cassius does not believe himself to be less than any other man, much less one who has such weak health.
