Climatological cause of a drought

English

Answer:

While climate change has increased precipitation in some areas, in other regions it has contributed to drought.1 Though there are a number of factors that drive drought, such conditions are apt to develop in regions that lack rain; drought is also greatly intensified by increased evaporation from soil and vegetation associated with warming.2 Very dry areas across the globe have doubled in extent since the 1970s.3 In particular, a long-term drying trend (from 1900 to 2008) persists in Africa, East and South Asia, eastern Australia, southern Europe, northern South America, most of Alaska, and western Canada.4

The global increase in drier, hotter areas and the trend in which dry areas are becoming drier can both be traced to the human influence.5 Drying trends have been observed in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres since the 1950s.6 These trends cannot be explained by natural variations but do fit well with climate model expectations for global warming.7 In particular, greenhouse gas emissions have contributed significantly to recent drying by driving warming over land and ocean.8

The increase in drought is caused by many factors: shortfalls in precipitation; earlier snow melt; a shift away from light and moderate rains towards short, heavy precipitation events; and increased evaporation from soil and vegetation due to higher atmospheric temperatures, all of which have been driven at least in part by climate change. Increased heating leads to greater evaporation of moisture from land, thereby increasing the intensity and duration of drought.9

Individual droughts have been linked to climate change, such as the drought that hit central India in 2008 when the north-south pattern of precipitation was disrupted by unusual weather driven by abnormally high sea surface temperatures due in part to global warming.10

Village life in America and A Confederate Girl’s Diary

Both diaries, Village life in America and A Confederate Girl’s Diary, are very interesting in the way that they are written. Sarah Morgan Dawson and Caroline Cowles Richards both have written about the Civil war, however they have very different perspectives and opinions about it.

Here are some similarities. Both girls were going through a time of war. They both despised the war and wanted it to end as soon as possible. They have both gone through moments of fear and misery, but also happiness and pleasure at sometimes. They have both lost family members and friends that they have loved. Both females were reporting and observing what was happening around them and they were very good writers too. At the end of the war, both Dawson and Richards were very glad the war was over.

There were also a few differences with the two diaries too. The biggest difference is that Richards is on the unions side while Dawson is on the Confederates side. Dawson was devasted at the loss of her side. “Thursday the 13th came the dreadful tidings of the surrender of Lee and his army on the 9th. Everybody cried”. Richards was triumphant at the win of her side. “Lee has surrendered! and all the people seem crazy in consequence. The bells are ringing, boys and girls, men and women are running through the streets wild with excitement”. Finally, Richards seems more like a calm and funny person while Dawson looks for revenge "Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." This is murder! God have mercy on those who did it!”.

To sum it all up both diaries were very different even though they were written and the same time. Both girls were strong throughout the civil war, though the lost several family members. In the end Richards was very happy that her side won the war while Dawson was devastated at her sides loss.\

Can someone help me write a story with this prompt: (short story!)
tester [92]

Answer:

As I was walking home from school one day, I saw a lady bug. It was one of those red one's. The more typical color you would see here. I continued walking leaving the lady bug on the sidewalk. When I arrived home I opened the door to the smell of a very well cooked dinner. I walked into the kitchen throwing my backpack into the living room. "How was your day?" I heard my mom say over the stove's crackling noise's. "it was good I guess.." I said with a mix of sadness in my voice. "AW, does baby need a tissue?" My big brother yelled exaggeratingly from the kitchen table. I persuaded myself to ignore him, I walked into the living room to get out my homework. I analyzed it and let out a big *sigh*. I had to paraphrase someone else's words into a paragraph.

(that's not short.. is it?) (Also I didn't use negotiate)
