In Greek societies, in almost all of them, only men were considered citizens. The treatment of women in Sparta was better than that of Athens, but even then, there were still limits. The generalized recognition of women as a political person occurred only in the twentieth century.

I’d say after washingtons death i feel we improved a lot as a country but also didn’t at the same time. I think it all depends on who we have in office and if they are a good president.
