Answer:

These types of questions are not daunting if you break it down. First look at  "Five less than twice the value of a number."

"Twice the value of a number" is simply 2x.

"Five less" is simply -5, so for the first part we have (2x-5)

Next, analyze the second part. "Three times the quantity of four more than one half the number."

Looking at "Three times the quantity" simply means "3 times something".

"the quantity of four more than one half the number" is 4 + "one half the number" or 4 + (1/2)x.

So the second part is simply 3(4+x/2).

Finally we finish the entire equation, (2x-5) = 3(4+x/2) then solve for x.

2x-5 = 12 + (3/2)x

2x-(3/2)x = 17

x/2 = 17

x=34

Checking the left side, (2x-5) = 2(34) - 5 = 63.

Checking the right side, 3(4+(34/2)) = 3(4+17) = 3(21) = 63.

Solve the differential equation.<br><br> dp/dt = t^2p - p + t^2 - 1
Alborosie
\frac{dp}{dt} = t^2 p - p + t^2 - 1 \Rightarrow \frac{dp}{dt} = p(t^2  - 1)+ 1(t^2 - 1 ) \Rightarrow \\&#10;\\&#10;\frac{dp}{dt} = (p+1)(t^2 - 1)\ \Rightarrow\ \frac{dp}{p+1} = \left(t^2 - 1\right)dt\ \Rightarrow \\ \\&#10;\int \frac{dp}{p+1} =\int \left(t^2 - 1\right)dt\ \Rightarrow \ \ln|p+1| = \frac{1}{3}t^2 - t + C  \ \Rightarrow \\ \\&#10;|p+1| = e^{t^3/3 - t + C}\ \Rightarrow\ p+1 = \pm e^Ce^{t^3/3 - t} \Rightarrow \\ \\&#10;p = Ke^{t^3/3 -t} - 1,\ \text{where $K = \pm e^C$}&#10;

Since p = -1 is also a solution, K can equal 0, and hence, K can be any real number.

Mary and Benjamin are driving to their friend Paar's house for a berday party Mary drives 9
SpyIntel [72]

Answer:

3.2 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that Mary drives 9 miles north and 6 miles east to get there, the resultant miles will be achieved by using pythagorean theorem

R = sqrt ( 9^2 + 6^2 )

R = sqrt ( 81 + 36 )

R = sqrt ( 117 )

R = 10.82 miles

while Ben drives 3 miles south and 7 miles west

Use the same pythagorean theorem to find the resultant displacement

R = sqrt ( 3^2 + 7^2 )

R = sqrt ( 9 + 49 )

R = sqrt ( 58 )

R = 7.62 miles

The difference in miles to where Mary and Benjamin live will be difference in the resultant displacement of the two

Difference = 10.82 - 7.62 = 3.2 miles.

Therefore, Mary live 3.2 miles from Benjamin.
