I think this layer formed by the strong currents or by waves slowly moving the shells to the shore along with other shells creating a layer of shells. If I’m wrong then I’m sorry:(
Because viruses have the ability to infect cells. E.G a dendritic cell. So the only thing that can kill then are natural killer cells but then viruses reproduct in these cells
