5x+4=-41 <br> answer? <br> explain!!
Ipatiy [6.2K]

Answer:

x = -9

Step-by-step explanation:

5x + 4 = -41   Your goal is to get x alone on on side

     - 4    - 4   Subtract 4 from both sides to get 5x alone

5x = -45  Now you need to divide to get what x equals

\frac{5x}{5} = \frac{-45}{5}  Divide by 5 to get x

x = -9

During the first stages of an epidemic, the number of sick people increases exponentially with time. Suppose that at = 0 days th
nydimaria [60]
T = days passed

r = rate of growth

by 0 day, or t = 0, there are 2 folks sick,

\bf \qquad \textit{Amount for Exponential Growth}&#10;\\\\&#10;A=P(1 + r)^t\qquad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;A=\textit{accumulated amount}\to &2\\&#10;P=\textit{initial amount}\\&#10;r=rate\to r\%\to \frac{r}{100}\\&#10;t=\textit{elapsed time}\to &0\\&#10;\end{cases}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;2=P(1+r)^0\implies 2=P\cdot 1\implies 2=P\qquad \boxed{A=2(1+r)^t}

 by the third day, t = 3, there are 40 folks sick,

\bf \qquad \textit{Amount for Exponential Growth}&#10;\\\\&#10;A=P(1 + r)^t\qquad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;A=\textit{accumulated amount}\to &40\\&#10;P=\textit{initial amount}\to &2\\&#10;r=rate\to r\%\to \frac{r}{100}\\&#10;t=\textit{elapsed time}\to &3\\&#10;\end{cases}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;40=2(1+r)^3\implies 20=(1+r)^3\implies \sqrt[3]{20}=1+r&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\sqrt[3]{20}-1=r\implies 1.7\approx r\qquad \boxed{A=2(2.7)^t}

how many folks are there sick by t = 6?   \bf \stackrel{that~many}{A=2(2.7)^6}

Brain was asked to round 4.44 to the nearest tenth and said it was 4.5 Is he correct?Why or Why not?
Annette [7]
Brian (I think you meant Brian haha..) is incorrect because the tenth place is the number right after the decimal which is a 4. If you are rounding to the tenth place that means that you have to look at the number to the right of that, which is 4. 5 and up means you round up and 4 and down means you round down. This is a 4, so you keep the 4 after the decimal and get rid of the last 4. Therefore, when rounded it would be: 4.4.
Hope this helped! Good luck! :)
