The Line of Demarcation established a boundary between Spain and Portugal.
SOVA2 [1]
The Line of Demarcation between Spanish and Portuguese territory was first defined by Pope Alexander VI (1493) and was later revised by the Treaty of Tordesillas (1494). Spain won control of lands discovered west of the line, while Portugal gained rights to new lands to the east.
The idea of this was to separate distinctively the colonies of Spain (most of latin america) and Portugal (Brazil and most of Africa) thus avoiding a war.

Why was there so little resistance in the war from the German people?
serious [3.7K]

During the war, be it the World War I or World War II, there was very little resistance among the German people about waging war. This might have came as a surprise for the other countries, and they also thought that the Germans are all hardline nationalist, but that was not the prime reason. The Germans were living in terrible conditions. The was lot of poverty, the job opportunities were not the best, the economy in terrible condition, and socially the country was in a dire situation. The German politicians used this desperation of the people, so they easily managed to convince them that the war would solve their problems. The people didn't had much to lose, so they went into war without thinking a lot, and seeing their economy and country becoming stronger, it seemed justifiable.

What happen when congress tries to create a law that violates the constitution
Ray Of Light [21]

Answer:

There are a couple of things that can occur:

1)The bill would be struck down by votes in either the House of Representative (HR) or in the Senate (S).

- If the bill does not garner enough support or votes, the vote will die in the the corresponding house.

2) The bill will be veto and/or line veto by the President.

- The bill would be automatically vetoed, which would be returned to both houses to be passed if they get 2/3 votes in each congress. Line veto can be used when they pass the bill but WOULD NOT enforce PARTS of the law.

3) Law is declared Unconstitutional.

- The third branch of government, the Supreme Court, can void the law and declare the law unconstitutional.

4) Popular Opinion: On certain occasions, Citizens of the US can try Direct Democracy, in which if they gather enough signatures or supporters, they can force the government to reconsider their choice.
