13. Jody is supplying his food truck for the week. He buys 32 pounds of pork and 50 pounds of chicken for a total of $185. He re

alizes he did not purchase enough of either and returns to buy 8 more pounds of pool and 20 more pounds of chicken for a total of $65.60. Which inequality represents the situation above if x represents the cost of pork and y represents the cost of chicken?

Answer:

Pork is $1.75 per pound (x=1.75)

Chicken is $2.58 per pound (y=2.58)

Step-by-step explanation:

Key skills needed for this problem: Linear Equations, Systems, Elimination

1) Use x and y for the pork and the chicken and you will get 2 equations:

  • 32x + 50y = 185
  • 8x + 20y = 65.6

We can use elimination in this system.

2) To use elimination, we can multiply the 2nd equation by -4:

-4(8x + 20y) = 65.6(-4) becomes -32x-80y = -262.40

3) Next add both equations:

32x + 50y = 185

+

-32x - 80y = -262.4

-----------------------------

-30y = -77.4

y = $2.58

4) Next we can substitute the y value into one of the equations. I like the first one so I used that one ---> 32x + 50(2.58) = 185

50(2.58) is equal to 129 so ---> 32x + 129 = 185

                                                           -129     -129

                                                   ------------------------

                                                    32x = 56

                                       Divide by 32 and get x= $1.75

5) Therefore, It is $1.75 per pound of pork, and $2.58 per pound of beef.

Hope you understood and have a nice day!! :D

What is the greatest measure of length? A. 5,000 meters B. 6,000 centimeters C. 30,000 millimeters D. 1 kilometer
Bess [88]

Answer: A. 5,000 meters

Step-by-step explanation:

Starting with the smallest unit which is option C. There are 10 millimeters in one centimetre. Option c in centimeters is:

= 30,000 / 10

= 3,000 meters.

Option c is smaller than B and so is incorrect.

A meter is 100 centimeters. Option b in meters is;

= 6,000 / 100

= 60 meters

This is less than option A so is incorrect.

A kilometer is 1,000 meters so option A in meters is:

= 5,000 / 1,000

= 5 kilometers

This is higher than option d so option A is correct.

Find the area of the trapezoid. points are (-5,-3)(4,-3)(6,-7)(-7,-7)
Olegator [25]

Answer:

44 square units

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a trapezoid with bases b₁ and b₂ and height h is given by the formula

A=\left(\dfrac{b_1+b_2}{2}\right)h

If you're wondering how we get this formula, check the attached illustration (remember the area of a parallelogram is its base multiplied by its height)! Moving on to our trapezoid, the pairs of points (-5,-3)(4,-3) and (6,-7)(-7,-7) form two horizontal segments, which form b₁ and b₂, and our height is the distance between the y-coordinates -3 and -7, which is 4. We can find b₁ and b₂ by finding the distance between the x coordinates in their pairs of points:

b_1=|-5-4|=|-9|=9\\b_2=|6-(-7)|=|6+7|=13

Putting it altogether:

A=\left(\dfrac{9+13}{2}\right)(4)=\left(\dfrac{22}{2}\right)(4)=(11)(4)=44

So the area of our trapezoid is 44.

Please someone who to help me to solve this question.
Lorico [155]
First you have make the 2 and a half into 5/2. Then you have to find a common denominator of the two fractions, which would be 8. So the 7/8 you dont need to do anything to but the 5/2 you do... so multiply both the top and the bottom by 4 so you can get 8 on the bottom. that would be 20/8. now you can add them. so 7/8 + 20/8 = 27/8

Can somebody please help me with this problem
Licemer1 [7]

The answer for this problem would be 628.3 Cubic Meters.

To solve, simply follow the way of finding the volume of a cylinder.

Calculate volume of a cylinder: V = πr2h.

Calculate the lateral surface area of a cylinder (just the curved outside)**: L = 2πrh.

Calculate the top and bottom surface area of a cylinder (2 circles): T = B = πr. ...

Total surface area of a closed cylinder is:

628.3

Hope this helps:}
